Trust in Your Relationship
Trust in Your Relationship
It is easy to fall in love with someone that you don’t really trust, however, it’s much more difficult to live with such a man. A true long-term relationship is built on trust. Trust in your relationship is a basis to develop genuine intimacy. So, if you want your relationship to be long-lasting, you should trust your partner your past, present and future.
Trust in your relationship can hardly emerge by itself even if you love each other. You should work on it, and if you had a bad past experience, it will be more difficult to establish trust with a new partner.
Establishing trust in your relationship requires time. You should show your partner that he can trust you as well as make him believe that you trust him. You should do your best to create an atmosphere that would help him realize that he can trust you. Listen to your partner, respect him and his point of view, take him the way he is. Tell him about yourself, show him that you trust him and help to feel that he can trust you. Don’t rush things. If you truly love him, you can wait.
Trust in your relationship will help you both to feel at ease. If at the early stages of relationship you tried to come across as the most intelligent, talented, etc., to achieve the genuine intimacy you need to know each other better. Your partner should get to know your true nature – how do you behave when you are tired, angry, upset or when you talk to your mom on the phone. He should love you the way you are, not the way that he wants you to be.
Trust in your relationship gives an opportunity to be sincere with your partner. You will not be able to talk to him sincerely if you only have guesses about how he might react to what you say.
One of the major mistakes that can lead to failure when trying to establish trust in your relationship is steep demands. You need to realize that your partner is a usual person. He has his own history, present and future, and he can’t dissolve in love completely. Everyone needs a personal space, and sometimes he is ready to lie just to keep it away from someone’s intrusion.
You shouldn’t have groundless illusions about your partner. There are no perfect people, and your partner is not exclusion. If you keep it in mind, you will not have to disappoint.
